¡ñ BCG successfully signs pilot leasing agreements with Air China (Aviation) on behalf of clients
The Beijing Consulting Group has assisted a leading aviation recruitment firm to enter the China market, and successfully signed pilot leasing agreements with a number of Chinese airlines, including Air China and Air China Cargo. As a result of the agreements, foreign pilots will be leased to Chinese airlines, mainly to fly international routes. This will allow the pilots to remain living abroad, and travel to China to carry our specific flying duties.
 
¡ñ Entering China¡¯s emission market (Environmental)
Beijing Consulting Group has conducted a dual-faceted market research project on emission testing standards on behalf of an Australian company, analyzing the prospect of assisting the Chinese government in improving local vehicle testing standards, and the optimal way to adapt the client¡¯s technology to suit the China market.
 
¡ñ FICE establishment (Trading / Manufacturing)
The Beijing Consulting Group has established a Foreign Investment Commercial Enterprise (FICE) for American clients in Shanghai, in order to meet their business functions in trading domestically and internationally.
 
¡ñ Tough joint-venture negotiations on dairy project (Dairy)
The Beijing Consulting Group has successfully assisted a dairy company to exit from a failed joint venture. BCG assisted the client through the exit-negotiations, and successfully recovered a large part of the client¡¯s initial investment.
 
¡ñ Seminar on doing business in China delivered by BCG in Adelaide, Australia.
Karen Surmon, a Senior Associate of the Beijing Consulting Group, was invited as a guest speaker in Adelaide to provide an update on China¡¯s business environment and an introduction to modes of market entry to the members of a medical industry association. Karen provided a general introduction to the China market, before moving onto specific information about medical regulations and industry trends and opportunities.
 
¡ñ BCG principal delivers lecture to EMBA students
Edward Smith, managing director of Beijing Consulting Group, was invited by Melbourne Business School to deliver a half-day lecture to a group of EMBA students taking part in an intensive two-week China study tour. Edward¡¯s lecture covered China¡¯s current economic status and political changes, as well as insights into future trends.

The Beijing Consulting Group has completed comprehensive market research on electronic payment systems for a leading financial service transaction provider. The research covered China¡¯s banking and IT sectors, and identified possible entry strategies and potential partners for the client.
 
¡ñ Energy Saving / Manufacturing
Ilum-a-lite, a joint-venture company established 4 years ago with the assistance of Beijing Consulting Group, is now profitable and aggressively increasing its market share. The Beijing Consulting Group has been involved in the ongoing management of the Joint Venture firm, holding a position on its Board of Directors and providing ongoing strategic guidance.
 
¡ñ Education / NGO
The Beijing Consulting Group was responsible for the development of the Australia China Alumni Association (ACAA), developed in partnership with the Australian government and more than half of Australia¡¯s universities. Following approximately 12 months preparation, the association was successfully launched at the Australian Embassy in Beijing in September 2007, in the presence of the current Australian Ambassador to China, Dr. Geoff Raby. The ACAA has expanded into Shanghai and Guangzhou, and now has funding from a wide range of government, university and corporate partners. The Beijing Consulting Group continues to oversee the strategic development and the introduction of new initiatives, including the high-profile Australia China Alumni Awards helf for the first time in Nov 2009..
 
¡ñ Children¡¯s Safety / Market Research
The Beijing Consulting Group has provided assistance to Monash University¡¯s acclaimed Accident Research Center, aiding in the set-up and conduct of MUARC¡¯s China Booster Seats project, which was run in cooperation with the China Centre for Disease Control. This project aimed to increase the awareness of car safety issues amongst Chinese families with children and to better understand the behavior of Booster Seat end-users.
 
¡ñ Michell sets up 30 million USD plant in China.
With the Beijing Consulting Group's assistance, Michell Pty Ltd, the world's largest wool carbonizer will open their first processing facility in China in Wujiang, Jiangsu province, an hour's drive from Shanghai in April 2007. The total investment is expected to be approx. 30 million USD. BCG played a key role in helping Michell set up this WOFE, including providing advice on the plant's location, gaining environmental approvals, negotiating the land and utility contracts, etc.
 
¡ñ China Business Culture Seminar at MBS.
Cecilia Fan, Managing Consultant of the Beijing Consulting Group, was invited by Melbourne Business School to deliver a China Business Culture Seminar to the MBA students at their main Melbourne campus in February 2007.
 
¡ñ Irrigation WOFE set up in Beijing.
Beijing Consulting Group has assisted Hydro-plan, the largest Australian irrigation design firm to establish a Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise in Beijing. Hydro-plan will be providing environmentally friendly, cost effective design and advice on irrigation systems for Golf courses, large scale real estate projects and agricultural projects in China. The WOFE commenced operations at the end of 2006.

Karen Surmon , Senior Associate at the Beijing Consulting Group, and a member of Australian Ball Organizing Committee, played a key role in organizing the 700-person Australian Community Ball in Beijing at the China World Hotel in March 2007. BCG also assisted with the introduction of Tourism Tropical North Queensland as a sponsor and won a ¡°Special Vote of Thanks" from the Organizing Committee.
